SmartBoards is MAIO’s dashboarding app.
With SmartBoards you can create dashboards to visualise all the important data for your use case.
Use cases range from monitoring fleets of connected assets to keeping tabs on production metrics and anomalous machine behaviour.
The App View
Like other core MAIO apps, the main view in SmartBoards is organised into two main sections:
- The list view on the left lets you browse through all accessible Smartboards.
- The main view takes up most of the space on the right and presents the selected SmartBoard.
The SmartBoards List
Existing SmartBoards are shown in the SmartBoards entity view on the left hand side of the app. In the list view you can browse through SmartBoards and SmartBoard folders, edit folders and also duplicate SmartBoards and SmartBoard folders.
The list view can be collapsed to give more screen space to the selected dashboard.
SmartBoard Creation
To create a SmartBoard simply click on the “New” button in the SmartBoards app and select “SmartBoard”.
When the “New SmartBoard” dialog appears you can set the following:
- Name
- Description (optional)
- Parent folder (optional)
SmartBoard Folders
Your SmartBoards can be put into folders. This helps keep work organisesd by, for example, customer or project.
Creating folders is a simple as clicking the "New" button in the entity view and selecting "Folder".
When the "New Folder" dialog appears you can set the following:
- Name
- Description (optional)
Widgets
Widgets are the building blocks of a SmartBoard. Each widget is designed to visualise data in a specific way. For example, if you want to display numerical data to see how it varies overs time, we have the Plot widget. Or, if you need to simply display a static image, the image widget has you covered.
MAIO has a wide variety of widgets and we have a strong pipeline with even more being continuously developed.
If you don’t see a widget to meet your specific needs then please get in touch and we can see about adding it to our development roadmap.
Widget Creation
To create a widget on a SmartBoard click on the “New Widget” button which can be found in the SmartBoard’s toolbar.
When the "New Widget" dialog appears you can set the following:
- Name (optional)
- Description (optional)
- Visualisation type (or widget type)
Widget Placement
SmartBoards are made up of widgets, which you can place and resize anywhere on the SmartBoard canvas grid.
Full Screen
Widgets can be put into full screen mode. This will put your display into full screen mode and the widget will occupy your entire screen.
The full screen mode is useful when you want to display one widget on a dedicated monitor or HMI.
The Widget Options Menu
Clicking the three dots icon on the top right corner of any widget will bring up the widget options.
Some widgets will have slightly different options available but all widgets have the following functionality:
- Configure: open up the widget's configuration page
- Duplicate: create a copy of the widget that will appear in the current SmartBoard
- Delete: remove the widget from MAIO (you will lose all data and configuration settings)
Sharing
If you have edit access privileges to SmartBoards you can choose to share your SmartBoards with other users who cannot otherwise see your boards.
To share a SmartBoard:
- Open the main menu of the SmartBoard you wish to share and click "Share"
- In the "Add User" field, find the user you want to share the board with (you can select more than one)
- When you have added the user/s, click "Save" to confirm. The user/s you have selected will receive an email to notify them of the share
